Chai Discovery Raises $130M in Series B Funding

Chai Discovery is an applied research lab working to turn biology from a scientific practice into an engineering discipline. We build models that can predict and reprogram the interactions between molecules, which will help create the next generation of medicine.

This year, we released a series of research breakthroughs in computational protein design, pushing the field far beyond what many thought was possible. What looked like five-year problems just months ago are now getting solved in weeks.

Our ambition is to build the “computer aided design suite” for molecules. To help us get there, today we’re announcing that we’ve raised a $130M Series B funding round from General Catalyst and Oak HC/FT, with participation from Thrive Capital, OpenAI, Dimension, Menlo Ventures, Lachy Groom, Yosemite, Neo, and SV Angel. New investors Emerson Collective and Glade Brook also joined the round. Annie Lamont from Oak HC/FT and Hemant Taneja from General Catalyst will be joining the board.

The funding will help us invest in frontier research and grow our team.
